Julianne Bjørk Yang
Counselling for adults, adolescents and preteens
Singapore and online, in English and Norwegian
Hi! My name is Julianne Bjørk Yang, and I am a Norwegian-Chinese therapist working in Singapore.
Based at Alliance Counselling, I offer therapy in-person and online to clients in Singapore. I also offer sessions online for clients worldwide, including in Vietnam, Hong Kong, South East Asia at large, and Europe.
I support adults, adolescents, and preteens from diverse backgrounds, and tailor therapy to each person's strengths, needs and aspirations. Born and raised in Norway within a Chinese family and having worked across Asia, Europe, and the USA, I bring cultural awareness to my therapeutic work and approach all of my clients with genuine curiosity, openness, and compassion.
I speak Norwegian and English fluently. I also understand Swedish and Danish at a professional level, and understand basic Shanghainese, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Clients I work with and common issues
Adults
I appreciate the complexity of cross-cultural relationships and understand that navigating these is an ever-evolving learning journey. I collaborate closely with my clients, seeing them as experts on their own lives.
My areas of interest and experience include: anxiety, depression, grief and loss, perfectionism, emotional regulation, work-related difficulties, trauma, and identity issues.
Men's mental health is one of my areas of special interest, as well as supporting individuals with interpersonal or relationship challenges (such as attachment issues, family conflict, infidelity).
Teens and Preteens
With children and teens, my approach is rooted in respect, creativity, warmth, and humor. I recognise the unique challenges of adolescence, and emphasise mutual respect and understanding.
Having worked as a counsellor in an international school in Hong Kong, I appreciate the pressures faced by students and parents alike. I work collaboratively with parents, always upholding the child’s confidentiality.
I have experience with supporting children and young people who struggle with: anxiety, low mood, self-harm, sleep issues, perfectionism, academic issues, peer issues (bullying), family issues, grief, and challenges adjusting to change (such as moving schools/country, divorce).
